It’s the age-old question that perhaps every worship pastor and worship leader wrestles with at some point in their ministry.  A question with no clear-cut answer, no formulaic solution.  It’s up for debate and strong arguments could be made on all sides.

Actually, it’s not just one question.  It’s several questions...

There's a worship war that continues today. It's a battle waged everyday. You and I are on the front lines, whether we want to be or not. It's the war for our hearts. For our minds. For our attention.

It's a war about who gets the glory in our lives.

Someone recently said to me — if our church would select more (fill-in-the-blank) types of songs, we’d create more fans.

Fans?

Call them fans, advocates, supporters, admirers, or whatever you’d like. Sure. I’d like more of them. Wouldn’t you? Get past the word “fan” — and look at the deeper issue.

What is worship?  Usually when we hear that word, the first thing that pops into our mind is music.  Music can be a very powerful expression of worship, but is that all that it is?

Psalm 118:27 (NLT) "The LORD is God, shining upon us. Take the sacrifice and bind it with cords on the altar."

The first half of that is awesome – the 2nd half... not so much.

We sing the song "Made To Worship", but did you to know that you have a calling, a purpose in life... that God loves you in such an awesome way? He has such affection for us... and here is the reason why...
