Silos Destroy Teams

"4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. 5 'I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.'"

You see, in leadership it's the same way when we become disconnected from the main source or vision. We can't flourish... even the Bible is clear on that.

There is a story that comes to mind about 3 blind men describing an elephant. I think this applies to Creative Leaders disconnected from the main source of vision or in a silo.

The one blind man touched the elephant's legs and described the elephant as a tree.
The second blind man touched the trunk and described it as an oversized snake.
The third blind man touched it's ears and described it as a bird like animal.
Each blind man had only a part of the picture.

To lead effectively, you must learn to see and understand the big picture - the entire elephant! Your reaction may be, "I'm not blind - my eyes are wide open! I have a good perspective on what's cool, what's hot and what's not." Some even become defensive when there perspective is challenged. Here is what I say to that...

No, you may not be blind, BUT EVERYONE HAS BLIND SPOTS.
