Everything Bows Before You

Written by Nathan Gifford on Saturday, 21 April 2012. Posted in Blogs

"Here in Your presence, all things are new;  Here in Your presence, everything bows before You..."

These words come from the chorus of a great worship song from New Life Worship (Hosanna! Integrity) called "Here In Your Presence".  Recently, we were singing this in my church and the lyrics hit me a little different than usual.  Yes, bowing is a form of worship and we understand that, but EVERYTHING bows before Him.  Yes, the Bible talks about how even the rocks will cry out if we don't praise Him.  Even beyond His creation bowing before Him... EVERYTHING bows before Him.

As we were singing, I began to share what was on my heart at that moment... encouraging the congregation... declaring that EVERYTHING bows before Him.

Your physical sickness... that bad doctor's report... your disease... HE is Jehovah Rophe, the Great Physician.  Every sickness bows before Him.  HE is greater than your sickness.

Your finances... that stack of bills that you have no idea how they will all get paid... the collectors that keep calling you... that unexpected circumstance that you had to pay for when you didn't have the money to do so... the car with the empty gas tank... HE is Jehovah Jireh, your provider.  Every financial problem bows before Him.  HE is greater than your financial needs.

Your family and relationships... that spouse that is unsaved... that child who is rebellious and seems unreachable... that friend that has turned his back on you... Every relational problem bows before Him.  HE is greater than that situation.

Your job... that boss that is always on your case... that co-worker that lied about you so they could get the promotion instead of you... that pay rise that you were promised but never received... Every job situation bows before Him.  HE is greater.

Your emotions... the day to day struggles and worries that you are carrying... the fear that debilitates you... the never-ending load of stress that weighs on you day in and day out... the doubt you struggle with wondering if God really cares... HE is Jehovah Shalom, your peace.  Every emotional weight bows before Him.  HE is greater than everything that is causing these feelings.

I could go on, but I think you get the point.  No matter what you are facing today, remember that there is nothing that can come at you that you can't handle with God's help.  He is your strength, your portion, your peace... whatever you need.  Trust in Him.  All you need to do is to thank God and worship Him simply for who He is.  Even if times are hard... you must choose to worship Him in the midst of your trial.  That is what you were created for and what He wants You to do.  Just tell God how great He is and let Him step into your situation and prove Himself strong on your behalf!

Now that you are personally encouraged, built up in your faith, and reminded of how great God is... take a moment and remind yourself of your job as a worship leader. Your job goes beyond singing songs, playing an instrument, directing a choir, etc. You are leading your local church congregation into the very presence of God! Every song that you sing and word that you speak should be pointing people in that vertical direction. So as you reflect and remind yourself that everything bows before our God, don't forget to do your part in reminding your congregation of that same thing through what you sing and speak!
