"Every Praise"
Hezekiah Walker
Worship leaders and church musicians have been emailing Rob Hampton for months requesting one of his new STOMP Bluetooth® page turners. Three years ago, Hampton had no idea others would share his frustration with current technology.
As a worship leader for his church, Hampton couldn’t stand messy transitions. Not only do they interrupt the song, but they create distractions in the worship experience. Hampton would swipe through chord charts on his tablet, rushing to get his fingers back on the guitar. Song changes were sometimes rocky and the band’s whole performance could suffer. After years of seeing fellow musicians and worship teams struggle, Hampton swore he’d find a solution.
He came back disappointed with how flimsy and user-unfriendly the page turners were. So he decided to invent his own. Now he’s launched the ultimate hands-free solution on Kickstarter.
Originally, Hampton paid a manufacturer to make a plastic version of his ideal pedal and started selling them online two years ago. Like the Seattle-based eCommerce giant, Amazon, Hampton’s company, Coda Music Technologies, has been growing like a weed. Fans of Hampton’s first creation are already lining up on the company’s Facebook page.
“I'm excited about the new pedal. I've got the launch day posted to my Google calendar so I don't miss it,” said Ben Brady. Mr. Brady plays in a church band every Sunday. “I have another company’s 'plastic' page turner that I'm afraid to actually step on for fear of being a little bit too heavy footed.”
Even musicians who’ve played with Michael W. Smith, Josh Garrels, and Amy Grant are anticipating the release. Coda Music Technologies has already built a loyal following of accomplished musicians from their first pedal launch.
“The Coda Bluetooth pedal is the most rugged and dependable page-turn pedal I have ever used. It has NEVER let me down and it’s built like a tank,” said Gary Lunn, bassist for Michael W. Smith, about the company’s first generation pedal.
Hampton said he’s grateful to have support of such big names before the launch. “It’s humbling. I never thought that such huge acts would have the same problem I had,” he said.
Hampton says he’s more excited to see what the launch does for worship teams. “Worship teams have enough to think about without shuffling through pages of chord charts and sheet music. I’m excited to create a tool to resource the local church.”
The STOMP launched on Kickstarter on September 30, 2017 and Coda Music Technologies is offering once-in-a-lifetime pricing and some incredible rewards for backers.
